We are constantly learning to find increasing joy in the Lord. And as a result we seek to be relentless in finding ways to direct others in how to experience that passion. Using the example of the Thessalonian church, we seek to sound forth the word of the Lord through the western suburbs and beyond, through our Gospel witness.
Recently, we’ve encouraged our people to become involved in personal evangelism through an INVEST and INVITE strategy. We’ve been challenged to “invest” in building caring relationships with people who do not know Jesus, and then “inviting” that person to share in your experience of grace.
As a church, we’ve learned to partner with our people to share the Gospel.
DBC is a church that God has blessed with an amazing international character. Increasingly, we are learning to use our gifting to reach out through cross-cultural missions. In November, 2008 we staged our first Missions Emphasis Rally, with the theme – “Reach Out”. What an incredible time we had! During the remainder of the year, we seek to keep missions under the spotlight through regular mission presentations at church and through improved mission-related communication. Our hope is that in the future our church might look to passionately support missions through prayer and by fostering connections with various missionaries and growing financial support, and that we might seek to increasingly be used in cross-cultural work ourselves.
